The ACLU of Iowa works with a variety of partner organizations throughout Iowa to further our work in civil liberties. The Partners in Liberty Award highlights particularly strong such relationships.

This includes work on a wide range of issues: Free speech and expression, religious freedom, separation of church and state, immigrants' rights, voting rights, ending mass incarceration, reproductive rights, LGBT rights, racial justice, women's rights, student rights, personal privacy and security, open government and records, and assuring due process and the rights of prisoners.

By working together, we are stronger when we partner with organizations with the similar goals, sharing expertise, insights, connections, and resources.

To honor particular strong connections and supports, in 2017 we created the Partners in Liberty award. The first recipient is our long-time ally in the fight for reproductive rights, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.
