Nominations are now open for the ACLU of Iowa Mannheimer Youth Advocacy Award. The deadline is Sunday, November 23, 2025, and the winner receives a $500 prize.
The Mannheimer Award recognizes a remarkable young Iowan or group of young Iowans aged 14 to 19 who have a record of defending civil liberties, particularly in the areas of:
- Reproductive Freedom
- Racial Justice
- Free Speech
- LGBTQ Issues
- Immigrants' Rights
- Gender Equality
- Religious Freedom
- Government Issues
- Tech Privacy
- Disability Rights
Anyone familiar with a young person’s accomplishments is encouraged to nominate one or multiple young people. That means parents, teachers, guardians, religious leaders, advocacy groups, community leaders, another young person, and others may make a nomination. A young person may also submit their own nomination.
