It can be difficult to hold onto hope in these days of increased animosity towards immigrants.

I’m an immigration attorney, and I am seeing increased violence against immigrants, as well as policy changes that continually strip away their rights and opportunities.

The people I work with are often frightened, and not without justification. Many have witnessed alarming actions at the hands of enforcement agencies, which target not just those people with criminal histories, but also honest, hard-working members of our community.

In this environment, our legal advocacy is increasingly constrained with fewer pathways or remedies available for our clients to pursue.

Kindness, Solidarity, and Resilience

Yet I still find sources of hope that keep me showing up and doing this work that I see every day is so important.

I see the kindness and solidarity in our community of immigrants and advocates. I find it in the resilience of our clients who, despite living with uncertainty and fear, continue to pursue their dreams, support their families, and contribute positively in countless ways.
