Nominations are now open for the ACLU of Iowa Mannheimer Youth Advocacy Award. The deadline is Sunday, November 22, 2026, and the winner receives a $500 cash award.
The Mannheimer Award recognizes a remarkable young Iowan or group of young Iowans ages 14 through 19 who has defended civil liberties in a notable way, particularly in the areas of:
Anyone familiar with a young person’s accomplishments is encouraged to nominate one or multiple young people. That means parents, teachers, guardians, religious leaders, advocacy groups, community leaders, another young person, and others may make a nomination. A young person may also submit their own nomination.
