Racial profiling  is the discriminatory practice by law enforcement officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual's race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. Click here for more detail.

The ACLU of Iowa and the ACLU nationally is conducting a Campaign Against Racial Profiling. We fight law enforcement and private security practices that disproportionately target people of color.

If you or someone you know has been racially profiled, or you suspect racial profiling, we encourage you to let us know. We are trying to collect examples of racial profiling to better identify it in Iowa and identify trends in particular communities. Email us at legal.program@aclu-ia.org.
