National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs through Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, celebrates the cultures of Hispanic and Latinx Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Latinxs first arrived in Iowa as early as the 1840s, and have enriched our state's social, economic, and political landscape ever since.
